Raining cats and dogs...on the 4th of July

The 4th of July did not go as planned, but when you depend on outdoors for entertainment, you have to leave room for error. Our night ended (without fireworks), watching a movie about Barbie Mermaidia, like this...decked out in 4th of July outfits, with our light up balloons and 3-D sunglasses, laying on mom and dad's bed...
But it began like this...
Cannons going off for every state - while we covered our ears 50 times (but cheered for Iowa, Wisconsin and Kansas)

Listening to music with Grandma Nancy...
Looking for fish in the murky lake, wondering where all the geese were this year? The rain must've kept them away...
We sat on wet blankets under a tree alternating eating hamburgers and holding umbrellas over our heads.
We posed for pictures in rain - drenched hair...

And showed off newly lost teeth and ice cream faces.
Dad bought his annual pink panther ice cream popsicle, but didn't get to eat much of it.

Without fireworks, it was a bit of a downer, but celebrating with family brought the spirits up! Happy 4th of July! Happy Birthday, America, 2010!
